A few weeks ago I put out on my twitter and instagram that I wanted to do a Q&A. I love seeing what my followers and readers would want to know about me. Plus, I think it always gives you that chance to get to know me more. I was really happy with the response I got. There is a mix of personal questions, and blogging life questions. I hope you like them, and my answers. If there’s anything else you want to know, leave your questions in the comments, or tweet me!
Here goes with the personal ones first, and we’re starting with an interesting one.
What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever had?
Ok, so when I was working in Hong Kong, one night we went out for a traditional chinese street food meal. I was skeptical at first but thought what the hell, so I ate pigeon. It’s not as bad as it sounds. It was surprisingly just like beef. Not chicken.
Who are your 5 dream dinner guests and why?
This is a really tough one, I change my mind all the time on this. I’m going to stick to famous people, and mixing dead and alive.
Audrey Hepburn – because she is my idol, and would be so amazing to be in her presence.
Blake Lively – because, by the end of it I’d really hope we’d be great friends and I could borrow some of her shoe collection.
Emma Stone – because she’s the coolest girl alive, and I think she’d appreciate the chosen company.
Paul McCartney – because he’s a hero of mine. Can we just imagine the stories he could tell please!
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – This is Ste’s influence on me. But seriously, his outlook to life inspires me so much, and I just think he would be a great guy to be around.
What do you think of my picks?
What’s your perfect day like?
I love this question, thanks Nadia. My perfect day would be a sunny one. I’d wake up early-ish, around 8, make a coffee, scroll through my phone, then get ready to go out. I’d probably spend my perfect day with Ste. We’d go for a lovely walk, either along the waterfront, or on the beach. Stop for another coffee, and something to eat. Then in the evening we’d head to see a new movie. We both love the cinema. Then we’d come home, chill out and listen to music.
This is my realistic perfect day. My DREAM perfect day, would be similar to this but set in New York, and buying a Chanel bag would be in there somewhere too.
What’s your favourite place in the world that you’ve visited so far?
I have been lucky enough to visit some amazing places. Hong Kong was spectacular, like nothing I have seen before. I was there for 6 weeks, 6 years ago – would anyone be interested in a blog post still?
Jamaica was also wonderful, I would love to go back there. Closer to home, I adored Loch Lomond in Scotland.
But the place that captured my heart and I dream every day about going back there is New York. I would go back there in a heart beat.
Favourite thing about the Wirral & Liverpool?
I’m a Wirral girl, living in Liverpool. My dad is from Liverpool, so I like to say I’m half scouse. My Papa used to say I was more scouse than some! Miss him.
The Wirral and Liverpool are amazing places. I could do a full blog post on this – again, would you want to read something like that?
My favourite thing about the Wirral, is the coastline. West Kirby, New Brighton and Hoylake are gorgeous! My favourite things about Liverpool, are the people & the city centre. The waterfront is like no other, I could spend hours down there.
Now on to the blogging questions!!
Name one thing you’re most proud of about your blog?
I’d say I’m most proud of what I have created, as it has attracted wonderful brands to work with me. I’m proud of my little space on the internet that has brought great people and opportunities in to my life.
What’s your favourite part about being a blogger?
My favourite part about being blogger is probably the brand recognition I am slowly starting to get. The people I have met through it go without saying. That will always be the best thing.
But when a brand reaches out to you because they like your work. Or when you get good feedback from a brand you’ve worked for, then it makes it all worth while. It helps to reassure me that I am on the right track.
How do you balance everything? From a full time job, to blogging and events, writing time, spending time with your husband & family, and staying fit too.
Don’t get me wrong, when it’s written down like that, it looks a lot! And daunting. I have found that I don’t work well at home, so I take my blogging out the house. When I finish work, or when Ste is in work I head to a coffee shop and get as much done as I can. This frees up the time me and Ste have together.
When he’s working, this is when I make time with my friends and family. When it comes to working out, I do this at work. My workplace has a good gym & class timetable, so I workout at lunch or after work. Ste is also a PT so I fit in a few sessions with him too.
Events is the one I struggle with. I love to head to them, but they do take up a lot of time. When I first started blogging I was here, there and everywhere. I tried to fit everything in. Now I have realised how that doesn’t work, and I have to choose wisely with what I attend. This works so much better for me, my working life and personal life.
How did you decide to start blogging?
I decided to start my blog once I had dropped down to only 1 job, and no studies. Previously I was working 3 jobs, and studying on my PGCE course. When all this ended I had so much spare time, and I didn’t know what to do with myself. I had wanted to start a blog for a while, and I knew this was the perfect time to start.
It is my creative outlet, my writing outlet, and also it keeps me sane. I’m not someone to just work one job and have lots of spare time. I’m an on the go type of girl, until I head on holiday.
What’s one thing you struggle most with when it comes to blogging/social media?
I also struggle with the numbers game, especially on social media.
My blog numbers are rising and I love that. But brands tend to look at social media numbers. Instagram is a big outlet for growing your blog and getting noticed, however it’s also the hardest platform to grow on. I love my instagram community, I feel like I know my audience really well on there, so that reassures me.
So there you have it guys, my questions by you answered. I’d love to know what you thought of my answers. If you’re a blogger, does anything I say relate to you? Who are your dream dinner guests?
If you liked this style of post, and have any further questions, let me know and I’ll do it again sometime.
