If you’ve been reading my blog for a few months then you may remember me chatting about CanLIVal before. Back in April I went to my first CarnLIVal event, and I couldn’t wait to attend another one, the moment I left.
I missed the summer one due to being at the British Style Collective, gutted. So I couldn’t wait for the Christmas one.
Christmas CarnLIVal was held in The Lady Of Mann pub, just off Dale Street. I loved this location, as it’s in a collection of 3 different pubs, and the courtyard area between the pubs is so oldy worldy.
The pub had reserved an area for us, it was decorated with a lovely tree, and the girls organising CarnLival had added a few more Christmas touches.
I grabbed myself a drink (and some crisps – essential) from the bar, and settled down to catch up with all the beautiful ladies in attendance.
What Is CarnLival
For those that haven’t read my first CarnLival blog, then I will tell you a little about it. It is organised and hosted by Katy and Sammy. They work so hard on everything, they scout the venues, contact brands to gift products for the goody bags, organise raffle prizes, and think of games for the event.
There is no budget to the event, so the way it all comes together is so impressive. The decorations and added touches to the venues all come from Katy and Sammy’s pockets.
CarnLival always gives back
Like I said, there is no pocketed money made at CarnLival, but money is certainly raised for different charities. This year, the money taken from the raffle tickets and the Naughty and Nice raffles, is being donated to the Repeal the 8th charity.
Plus, in order to give back to the local community, this time round the girls asked us to donate a gift for the homeless. You could make up a box or gift bag of items you think a homeless man or woman would appreciate.
In mine I included a hat, scarf, gloves, mouthwash and deodorant. These are being passed on to a local shelter, and will probably be split up between a few people who are in need of different bits.
What went on at the event
Each event always includes games. What event would be complete without a game. We played pass the parcel, which was the sweetest childhood memory. I forgot how good pass the parcel is. It was made even better because I won one of the prizes. I couldn’t believe it. I won a stunning Yoshi Lichfield bag, that I am blown away by, and can’t wait to start using and feature on the blog soon.
We also decorated cut out snowflakes, so not really a game, but the best one was being judged. This again, was super cute. I love doing crafts, especially because I don’t really craft at home.
The raffle is also super fun because the prizes are insane. There was items gifted from NYX, Universal Games, Urban Decay, Breakout Liverpool and Gino D’acampo’s restaurants, to name a few.
Secret Santa Time
Christmas CarnLival was a really small group this year. It was an invite only event, and this was in order to control the numbers to make it a more cosy affair. It was a lovely relaxed, and welcoming event and everyone was asked to bring along a Secret Santa gift.
This was a lovely idea, and everyone put in lots of effort to their gifts. I pulled out one from Samm, and it’s a fabulous Neon Sign Maker. I need some inspiration guys as to what to write on my sign.
Heading Home with Hands and Heart Full
So by the end of the event, not only have you been spoilt by the Naughty or Nice lucky dip, the raffle, games prizes and excellent company, you’re then given your goody bag.
The CarnLival goody bags are like no other. So many incredible brands gift their products to it, because they know the success of the event. I can’t wait to feature some of the items on the blog. I want to do a full post about my Yoshi bag, a review of Kat Von D liquid lips, and hopefully some book reviews.
Having events like these to go to is brilliant. Not only do you get to strengthen your friendships with other bloggers, but the girls organising the event realise how important it is to always have good blog content. The gifted prizes and products will create fantastic reviews and styled up posts. I can’t wait to try out all the products and share them with you.
You’ll have to let me know what reviews you enjoy, beauty, lifestyle or styling posts and I’ll try my best to incorporate them on the blog.
Do you have blogging events like this in your area or city? Would you love to maybe plan one so you can meet new bloggers?
