This post is going to show you where you can shop your favourite designer make up brands but at a much lower cost.
Sounding good already? I hope so. Let me ask you then, how long has it been since you shopped in TJ Hughes? For some of you it might be a regular shop you pop in to, others of you may not have been for a TJ’s mooch in years.
I fall in between, I pop in every now and then for when I need a specific something that I know TJ’s will have. When I go in I always love to look at the make up they have in store. I love getting the surprising reminder at the brands they stock, as I forget how good their beauty range is, and it’s all sold at a discounted price.
Falling back in love with T J Hughes
I was recently asked to sit in as the model for a Festive Make Up Tutorial for TJ’s. All the products used can be bought from the classic discount store, online and in-store. I completely fell in love with some of the products that have been used to create the looks, so I just had to share them with you.
The foundation used was L’Oreal Infallible. I haven’t used a L’Oreal foundation before this, but I am really impressed by this one. I’d say it is a medium coverage, creates a dewy finish, and feels light on your skin. It also had great staying power, and stayed fresh looking for the rest of the day and evening.
Priced at £5.99, it is certainly cheaper than the RRP in other stores.
To create the frosty eye look, the Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Vent was used. The colours are so pigmented, and blend really well together. You can create a lovely smoky eye look even with lighter colours. I was a little dubious at first, as I do shy away from blue toned eye shadows, but these definitely create more of a grey shimmer finish. This eye palette from Nars comes in various shades, and all retail at the bargain price of £12.95.
To line the eyes, I usually love using a kohl pencil or a liquid pen. Years ago I had a gel liner in black from Mac, and loved it, so I’m excited to see that if I fancy using one again, I can grab one from TJ’s. The Mac Fluidline in Macroviolet is a gorgeous plum colour, and adds a subtle but touch more colour to your eye look. They’re even slightly cheaper from here too, at £14.48.
Candy Cane Contour
Want to try something really fun for Christmas? Then you have to try the candy cane contour gimmick. This is such a cute idea, and it works really well. The super blendable and easy to use contour and highlight set from L’Oreal made this process even better. I am not great at contouring, I usually just slap on some bronzer and go. But this L’Oreal Infallible Sculpt palette has made the process so simple, and cheap, at £5.99.
Rudolf Red Lips
You all know I love a good lip. Lipsticks just stand out to me as a beauty product, as I think they complete a look. A lipstick always adds the finishing touches to your make up, and can always make you feel 100 times better and sassier. To create this red festive look, my lips are lined with colours from the L’Oreal Colour Riche Glam Lip Palette . This palette is great for playing around with and experimenting with different looks; it creates a great ombre lip, as it’s cheap enough to pop in your basket care free (£5.99).
To give my lips that festive gleam, and extra redness (of course, it’s Christmas), we used the Nars Larger Than Life lipgloss, in Hollywood. This guys, is only £10, and comes in different shades. £10 for this stunning red coloured gloss, and once it was on, it didn’t budge for hours.
Festive Party Ready
Seeing the 3 looks come together, the Frosty Eye, Candy Cane Contour and Rudolf Red Lip was brilliant. The super talented make up artist Aimee Elizabeth, a local Liverpool MUA, worked so hard on this look. All the products used (listed here and more), can all be bought from T J Hughes. I know that when I’m looking round for a particular beauty product, I will be making TJ’s a regular store to visit. I’d love it if you let me know what you think of the finished make up look, and if any of the products caught your eye.
TJ’s aren’t just helping you get party ready, they’re helping you save the pennies also. That’s a win win to me.
Love, Jessi xoxo
*I’d like the say thank you to Hit Search UK for selecting me as the model for this project. Keep your eyes peeled for the T J Hughes social media, you may spot this familiar face and make up products pretty soon.
