On Saturday night we chose to have our Date Night at the brand new bar and restaurant District House. It’s located on Water Street, and for all of you guys reading this who are from Liverpool, you’ll know its location as “the old Newz bar”. However, this new Independent Concept Venue hopes to bring something unique to the city centre.
If you ever went to Newz Bar or Amanzi, you’ll know that inside the venue is a large space that has so much potential. When you first come in you’ll now be greeted by a tropical inspired bar area; with it’s wicker chairs and striking palm tree wallpaper you’ll want to get your phone out and start snapping away at the decor.
Venture through the sliding palm tree door to reveal the large restaurant and event area. This will be a real wow feature to District House as it has so much to offer, from its size, to the lighting that can change to many colours depending on the mood and event, and when the main feature of the room will be installed, which is a fantastic candle and light lit tree, the room will look fantastic.
The concept behind the new venue is to create an independent business that can offer incredible events, as well as being a quirky and delicious restaurant, that will suit all different kinds of people across the city, and further afield. The owners of District House and the team running the restaurant are huge fans of the visual aspects of venues and how you can draw on inspiration from Instagram and Pinterest, this comes across in the striking decor of the venue, and I’m sure as the popularity of here grows, you’ll spot more and more pictures on the internet of the bar area’s District House Selfie Mirror or shots against the Palm Tree Wall.
On Saturday evening when we came out for dinner we didn’t know what to expect from the venue, and during the night we still couldn’t decide, this was only down to the mix of people that had either booked in for dinner or stumbled across it whilst visiting the city. There was a mixture of guests, from very casual tourists, to smart casual couples like us, then all glammed up ladies out for a fabulous night. Regardless of this though, everyone looked like they were having a great evening and for us personally we loved it. I’ll share with you some of the pictures we took on the night of our delicious food, and drinks.
Our starters were Tempura Prawns with crispy Kale, and Sweet Potato and Red Pepper soup, both delicious, and I loved the presentation of the prawns.
For mains I had the Sea Bass Risotto, which had baby prawns and tempura asparagus with it, and Ste (the hub) had a huge Homemade Beef Burger with cheese and fries. It was excellent value for money at a swanky venue and the food was so tasty.
We couldn’t make it to the desert menu as we were so full, so next time this is a must. We chose to move in to the bar area after dinner, as I wanted to try a cocktail and enjoy the tropical themed area. The cocktails on the menu are so unique, but you can choose a regular one if you fancy. I went for the Plum Sake Spritz, and it was so nice, it had Prosecco in it so I knew I’d enjoy it.
I’m really hoping this venue takes off and is fantastic, as I’m already really excited about some of the events they have in the pipe line. Plus I have to share with you that at Christmas time, they could have the most incredible display of Christmas Trees that could hang from the ceiling – I’m Sold!!
Be sure to follow them on Twitter (@districthouseuk), Instagram (@districthouseuk) and Facebook (District House) as this is where all event information will be posted. But, before then, book in for a delicious meal or call in for a cocktail.
Let me know if you go and enjoy the brand new District House.
