Be a May Queen with Illamasqua
This is a 2 section blog post. You’ll see that part one is all about the May Queen Masterclass & the second part is all about the products , I really love the pictures I shot for these products & I will detail the names of them all. I hope you enjoy!
Illamasqua’s latest collection is called the May Queen, it is inspired by the mythical tale of the young maiden may queen, she is the goddess of spring and represents strength and growth; 2 amazing qualities that we can always try and posses. The May Queen capsule collection includes eyeshadows, lipsticks, a highlighter and a pure pigment, which are all completely stunning. The colours in this collection are so fresh, summery and feminine but can totally be rocked with an edge.
Seeing as the May Queen is all about growth and rebirth, the collection allows you to reincarnate your look using stunning but simple to use make up for any occasion.
I attended a masterclass with Illasmasqua’s Head of Artistry, Nilli (which I am very thankful for), she created an “occasion look with a twist” on a beautiful model using the Illa Must Haves – Hydra Veil & Skin Base Foundation and the capsule May Queen collection. The amazing thing about this make up is that each product can be used in a number of ways for different areas of your face, and for beauty lovers like me, that aren’t necessarily amazing at applying flawless make up, this is the easiest make up to apply, especially the eye-shadows, you can create gorgeous smoky eyes with them, but equally if you just want a small bit of shimmer then pop your finger in and dab the colour on to your eye lid – simple as that.
The eye-shadows would make the perfect addition to your holiday make up bag as they are so easy to apply & light to wear, and the shimmer would look great with a tan.
The finished look
The masterclass was a small intimate event and was so good. Nilli was amazing at answering any questions we had and just chatting in general about make up tips & life. We were spoilt with prosecco & chocolate biscuits; a winning combination, and then gifted with the most amazing goodie bags including one of the eye-shadows, a lipstick & a flower crown (in my opinion, the most exciting piece). I understand I am very lucky to have opportunities like this and be given products, but I did buy some products myself too, I picked up another shade in the eye-shadow and a tinted brow gel which I had wanted for a while and has been a total saviour & welcomed addition to my make up collection.
So here are some of the May Queen staples – eye shadow & lipstick.
Powder Eye Shadow in “Ritual” – £17
Powder Eye Shadow in “Maiden” – £17.
What a stunning, summery combo!
Antimatter Lipstick in “Binary” – £20.
My mini May Queen collection all together.
I absolutely love this collection, the colours are very easy for everyone to wear, they can be subtle or you can build them up to be vibrant. Illasmasqua was originally set up as a brand for make up artists, which is why all the products are so easy to use.
If you like these products then you can shop them on their website or pop in to your local store. My local store is in the Metquarter in Liverpool, you really should go as it is a super cool store and the staff in there are lovely & helpful, go for a chat and try out.
I hope you’ve liked this post, please do let me know below.
Have you tried the May Queen collection yet? Or have a favourite Illa Must Have product?
