I am a lipstick lover, I always have been. The first lipstick I ever remember wearing was a red one, but I don’t remember the brand. Come to think of it, it probably wasn’t a great brand as it was used for a dance show. I must of been about 6 and I walked past the dressing room of the older girls from my dance school, and I remember them looking in the mirror and putting their lipstick on. I really wanted a go. With mums permission the girls put some on me, and from then I’ve always carried lipsticks, balms or glosses with me.
I came to the liquid lip party a little bit late, but nevertheless I am loving it now. The liquid lip trend is not dying down at all, and more and more brands are bringing out lip kits and new liquid lip colours. The first liquid lip I bought was from The Body Shop, and I still swear by it. This post however is about my first high end liquid lip and whether or not I liked it.
If you hadn’t already guessed by the title, it’s about my Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lip in Showgirl.
I have loved Charlotte Tilbury as a brand from when it launched in stores almost 2 years ago. It amazes me at how in such a small time, Charlotte’s brand has boomed in to what it is today. There’s no mistaking her dreamy packaging and she’s constantly bringing out new products. The latest big launch was the Hollywood collection, which included new products of contouring and highlighting wands, along with the liquid lips.
I was really drawn in to the Hollywood collection, partly because of the new lipsticks, but because I thought it was a great concept for a new collection. Who doesn’t want to look like a Hollywood starlet?
I swatched a lot of the colours when I went to try out the lipsticks, but it was Show Girl that I was drawn to. The colour is a deep berry shade, that dries matte once on the lips. This shade is the perfect one for Autumn/Winter and is a great shade for all year round for an evening out. The deep plum tones in this make it a lovely, sumptuous colour to wear.
I paired my lipstick with the Pillow Talk lip liner, and it didn’t budge. I’ve worn this a few times now on nights out and I’ve only had to top it up once, and that’s after a few hours of wearing it and it’s endured food and drinks.
The Best Bit
The consistency of this lipstick is not too heavy and applies very smooth. In order to get the depth of colour you want, it is easy to apply a couple of layers without it clumping or smudging the colour.
The thing I love most about this lipstick is the applicator. It is indented to fit the curve of your lips, so that when applying it, you get a smooth and precise line of colour.
These lipsticks retail at £24 each, but they are so worth it. It hasn’t dried out my lips, the colours are true to the images online and what you see in the bottle. I’m really tempted to get a few others shades for different occasions. Maybe a nude like Charlotte Darling for a go-to day look, and the brand new red shade, Walk Of Fame, for Christmas.
I had a lot of hopes for these products and I’m so glad they lived up to expectation.
What shades are you loving in the liquid lipsticks? Have you tried any of them yet?
