Nail Varnish Love
I am a nail varnish hoarder. Of all different colours and all different brands, and I love finding new ones I don’t have. I do have my favourites that I always go back to. For a high street brand, I love Barry M! For a between high street and designer prices, I love Nails Inc. Then for designer polishes I love Chanel.
Getting your nails done is also a real treat. I love getting Shellac done, but the cost of getting it done really well, repeatedly can add up. I only get it for special occasions, and will be getting it done for Christmas. However, for the rest of December you still want to look fancy, right.
Christmas Nail Ideas
So, I decided I’d try to get fancy with my nails. I have 2 ideas that I thought would look great for you guys too.
The first design I went with is full of sparkle. Using a base colour of pale pink, and a top coat of sparkle. The mixture of pink and gold glitter, is a real millennial look.
Nails Inc are great for polishes filled with glitter. They release a new colour each year and you can pick them up from the likes of Boots, Harvey Nichols and Debenhams. They make a fantastic festive touch to any nail look.
For the best look, apply a couple of base coats, to make your pink colour stand out. Then apply the glitter sparingly over the top, so that you can see the shapes within the glitter, but still show the pink.
If you want another idea though, that is a little more intricate, but can be really festive, you can invest in some nail art tools. I picked this set up from ebay, for under £3. It’s great for all kinds of designs, and once I have invested in some nail glitter, I can start to use the fan brushes within the set too.
The smaller the end of the tool, the more intricate you can make your designs. I went with a snowflake effect.
For your design to stand out, then you need to choose a dark base colour, and a much lighter colour to draw on your designs.
I must admit that my designs aren’t as great when I’m drawing with my left hand. Does anyone else always struggle with painting with your weaker hand? Thank goodness for varnish remover, to tidy up the paint from all round my fingers.
Do you think you’d give something like this a try? Have you ever used nail stencils? I’d like to try them next I think. Let me know which design you prefer, and if you give them a go, please show me some pictures.
Have a lovely weekend,
