Today marks our 4th wedding anniversary. It’s a typical thing to say but the last 4 years have flown by. We have blinked and the best day of our lives is 4 years behind us.
I absolutely love reminiscing on this day. Each time I sit and think about it I remember different parts. I never get tired of looking through my photographs, and hope I never do.
I thought I would put together a snippet of my favourite moments of the day for you. If you’re planning a wedding then I hope these can be seen as good bits of advice and ideas.
The Morning of the Day
I woke up on the morning of our day feeling so relaxed. Possibly too relaxed as I slept through my alarm. We dashed down to the hair salon and spent the rest of the morning there.
I loved this morning so much. We had music on, and Prosecco flowing. The bacon butties were also out in force.
There was me, my Mum, and my 5 bridesmaids. I love getting my hair and make up done at the best of times, but on your Wedding Day it’s even more special.
It felt like the party had already started. Once we were all ready, I handed out some presents, had one last toast to being a Miss Sloane, and then the cars arrived.
Walking Down The Aisle
This was the moment that it hit me that I was the Bride. All our family and friends had turned out to see me and Ste say “I do”. The church was packed and I was so overwhelmed by it.
The Temptations – My Girl started playing and my Dad looked at me and said “let’s go then”. I felt really proud walking in with my Dad. I remember spotting Ste and he was beaming at me.
Walking down the aisle I was noticing the smiles of so many people. Everyone who was there remembers me saying Hi to lots of people on the way down. When I spotted my elderly Nana and Papa and Great Uncle I got so emotional. It meant so much to me that they were there.
That short walk is one I will never forget.
Sitting On The Top Table
Let me explain this one. So usually at weddings the top table gets served first. Once we had finished eating, and before we walked around each table chatting to our guests, we just sat there and watched the room.
The wedding day is so busy, and none stop, that taking 5 minutes to appreciate all your loved ones in one room is important.
We loved watching our guests chatting and laughing, and having a great time. It was really important to us that our guests felt relaxed and had a great time. We’d put little quizzes on the tables, as well as photo props.
Dancing The Night Away
After our first dance to There She Goes by The La’s, we asked the DJ to tell everyone that if they wanted to see us during the evening, then come dance with us.
Apart from the times we were at the bar, we spend the majority of the evening dancing with all our favourite people. I love a good dance, so this was the best way to spend the night for me.
We had a band play, as well as a DJ. The mix in music was great. The band got everyone up, and the DJ took us through till 1am.
Our last song of the night was Champagne Supernova by Oasis, everyone was in a big circle on the dance floor and we were all singing our heads off. Me & Ste ended the night in the middle of the circle singing to all our family & friends. It was so emotional but wonderful. Another moment I will never forget.
There’s four things that really stood out to me on our big day (among many other moments too). Four things for four years. If you enjoyed the wedding theme post then let me know, as I might share some more with you.
We’re now going to enjoy our wedding anniversary reminiscing on more special moments, and relaxing with a movie night.
