Happy December Everyone.
I really love this time of year, I love the decorations, the cosy feel that fairy lights give off, the food and the parties, and I actually love spending loads of time with family. I also love to shop for gifts, I love getting presents for people, I know a lot of people find this stressful but I really enjoy it.
I’ve almost been blogging for a year now, which is crazy, and I realised that I don’t share much about myself, it’s always about other products or lovely places. I want my readers to know me a bit better though, and what better way than to answer some Christmas questions. I found these from the internet as they have circled with bloggers a few times. Feel free to copy each question if you’re looking to do a similar post.
I hope you like getting to know my favourite things about this time of year, and all the piccys are of my own decorations at home.
1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
Well this first question is a hard one. Film is one of my biggest loves in the whole world. I’m going to have to name a few, as I have so many. I’m going to try and whittle it down to my top 5 (in no particular order).
2. Miracle on 34th St (Richard Attenborough one)!
3. Home Alone 2 – Lost In New York.
4. Christmas with the Kranks.
5. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
But seriously, it has pained me so much not to add in any more, so sod it, let’s add in Love Actually, The Holiday, Arthur Christmas, Deck The Halls, The Santa Clause, Fred Claus and The Polar Express.
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
I open my presents on Christmas morning, doesn’t everyone? I don’t think I’ve met anyone that opens them on Christmas Eve. That’s cool though, tweet me or comment below if you do. The only gift I open on Christmas Eve is my Christmas PJ’s, we do this every year as a tradition and get a gorgeous new set.
3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
I don’t have a particular memory that stands out as our Christmases don’t vary too much. I just like having lovely memories of going for Christmas Day walks and bumping in to friends and neighbours. I like remembering spending Christmas with my lovely Nan who is sadly no longer here, she used to come to our house for dinner. I like remembering making a huge pile with all the ripped off wrapping paper and diving in to it with my sister and our little dog. They’re just all family memories that are very special.
4. Favourite festive food?
My favourite food at Christmas time has to be Pigs in Blankets, I could literally eat everyone’s portions of them. I also love Cheese, a little too much, and it makes me so happy when the cheese board comes out. It used to come out during the Christmas special of Downton Abbey, seeing as that is no more, we need to find a new perfect accompaniment for the cheese.
5. Favourite Christmas gift?
Does this mean ever? I really am very blessed that each year I get fantastic presents. I’ll have to be general as I couldn’t single out one gift. I love receiving perfume as that is something I don’t buy for myself. This year I am getting a new watch, and I chose a beautiful Kate Spade one and I am so excited to open it.
This may be a bit soppy, but I got engaged on the 20th December when we were on holiday in New York, it was in front of the Home Alone Christmas Tree and I always think of that every Christmas, so that year, that was a pretty special gift.
6. Favourite Christmas scent?
I love Spiced Apple as a scent, you can get really nice Glade plug ins. But, right now I have 2 candles that I am loving, one is Warm Apple and Cinnamon from Home Bargains, it’s so nice, and the other is Fireside Treats by Yankee Candle (Fave). This one is simply gorgeous and is a great scent for Autumn and Winter!
7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
We have a few Christmas Eve traditions and I love them. We always get a new set of PJ’s, like I said before, sometime during the day I go and get my hair blow dried, then early evening we go out for tea with my Dad. To round off the day I head to Midnight Mass with my mum and sister, there is something really festive about going to this, and I love driving home after it when all the streets are really quiet and hoping that everyone in their homes is excited to wake up for Christmas.
8. What tops your tree?
We have a star that tops our tree. It isn’t a fancy one, it just came in a big pack of baubles and tree decorations from Next. I’m actually on the look out for a stunning keepsake one that I want to be able to use for years and years. Growing up, my Mum topped the tree with an Angel, hers is one that is a lovely, antique looking angel and she has had it for years, this must be why I want to get a really pretty tree topper to keep.
9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
I always used to ask for a Shetland Pony, I thought our garden was huge and easily big enough for one to live in. One year I got quite excited as I was pretty sure my Dad was warming to the idea. It never happened guys.
As I’ve got older, I always jokingly (but not really), write “Chanel bag” on my Christmas list. A girl can dream right.
10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
Aside from everything that I have written above, Christmas really does make me happy as it reminds me of family and friends. It can be the hardest time in the world some years, believe me, I’ve experienced those years, but then one year it can seem fantastic and all the festivities fall in to place. I love treating people, I love pyjama days, I love the magic of Christmas films and don’t get me wrong I do enjoy it when my husband surprises me with an incredible gift that I’ve not chosen.
So this is me and my love of all things festive. I hope you’ve enjoyed this, if so please let me know, comment below or tweet me.
I hope all your December days will be Merry and Bright. Too much? Ah well.
