Time for a catch up
Hi Everyone, and welcome back to my blog. I’m sorry it has taken me an age to write, but it turns out I have had a much needed break from writing. I think after over a year of being in lockdown limbo, and working from home, I just couldn’t bring myself to sit for longer at my laptop. But I now think it’s well overdue time for a catch
It has been a long 5 months since my last post and I promise it won’t be that long again. I’m still struggling to comprehend that we’re in October now, and earlier in the year we were still in complete lockdown and restrictions.
Looking back on this year already, there have been so many ups and downs. I’ve decided to focus on just the ups for you guys and share some exciting news, as well as what I’ve been up to over the last 5 months.
Back With A Bump
I have to start with the most exciting news. If you follow me on Instagram then you will know that me and Ste are expecting a little baby boy. This is probably the biggest piece of news I have shared on my blog ever. If you don’t follow me on socials, then surprise.
We found out at the end of May that I was pregnant. So that explains the 5 months away from here, adjusting to life as a soon to be 3. I am going to write lots of posts on Baby News & how I have been finding pregnancy. They’ll be a part of my Baby Diaries. I really hope you enjoy reading them.
We have always wanted to start a family. To be honest, Ste has wanted a family with me since we started dating 15 years ago. He is so thrilled with this news and can’t wait to start life as a Dad.
Being pregnant has been a whirlwind so far. I’ve been so fortunate to not suffer with any morning sickness, which has been a blessing. But now I’m here at 26 weeks other bodily changes, aches, and all kind of growing pains have kicked in. Baby Boy has definitely had a growth spurt recently.
I can’t believe I am at the start of my 6th month already, I really do have a lot to catch you up on. More on all that soon.
Trips Away
This seems like so long ago now but this summer I had some lovely trips away. After the year we had it was lovely to explore the UK. We still haven’t been abroad yet, that is looking more hopeful for next year. But if this pandemic has taught us anything it’s to explore all the beauty of the UK.
The trips we did were to London, Anglesey, and a weekend break that fitted in both Watford and Cambridge. Watford and Cambridge were new to us. But London and Anglesey are like old friends, so visiting them felt like a very welcomed break from what had been a monotonous daily life.
London was a girls trip. I spent the weekend here with my Mum and Sister. We walked miles and miles each day, went to the Sky Garden for the first time, and ate out at some lovely places. We generally just enjoyed being somewhere new, and basked in the brilliant southern sunshine.
Our longest trip away that we had been on in over a year was to Anglesey. We stayed in Ste’s aunt’s caravan for 8 days and it was so needed. It was at a time where Wales was still quite restricted & under more Covid rules than England, so it was a very quiet and chilled week.
It was also just under a month since we found out I was pregnant and we were keeping it quiet still. The effects of pregnancy were kicking my butt. Although I didn’t have morning sickness I was suffering with awful bloating and extreme tiredness. I could nap everyday for about 2 hours. So hiding out in the Welsh countryside & coastlines was exactly what we needed.
Home and Working Life
I actually have something to update you on here. After working from home for 18months I am now returning to the office. Not for a full 5 days a week but 1 or 2 days here and there. I am so happy with this progress, I feel good about getting a change of scenery and seeing my colleagues in person. However, the commute is going to take a lot of getting used to again, I have not missed sitting in traffic as part of my day.
Now the baby is on the way we are trying to get our house sorted as best as possible. When there’s just 2 of you for years you really do accumulate so much stuff. We’ve sorted everything out from our kitchen cupboards, dvd collection to the sock drawers.
I have in my brain that I want to live clutter free for a few months before little boy arrives. Then I know all his things will just take over everywhere.
If anyone has any great storage tips for kids items then please do let me know!
Coming Up On The Blog
My blog is my favourite outlet I absolutely love to write on here, and I love to create content for you guys. My Instagram and blog go hand in hand for me, creating posts for both is so much fun.
I update my Instagram daily with either stories or grid posts. But I know I have been lacking in the blogosphere. But not anymore. There will be lots coming up regularly on the blog now, from Baby Diaries, to beauty, lifestyle posts and also more on what to do if you visit the fabulous city of Liverpool and elsewhere in the UK.
I really hope you enjoy them all and there is something for each of you on here.
I will leave it here for now, as I think I have caught you up with pretty much everything that has been happening over the last 5 months. The good parts anyways, you don’t need to know about the endless nights just binging Netflix or days out having walks and coffees. I hope you have enjoyed the post and that you are all doing well.
Speak soon,
Jessi xoxo
