Welcome back to another Dior blog. I know I have mentioned Dior a few times on the blog already, but when they’re constantly bringing out new things to try, and I’m loving them, then why not share them.
Liverpool is a city that is now rivalling others with the exclusive events/experiences that are opening here. One of them being the Backstage Studio at Dior Debenhams.
The Backstage Studio at Dior in Debenhams Liverpool is part of an exclusive experience that is only in a handful of stores across the UK. The studio is created to give you an experience of being backstage at a fashion show, and offers a more exclusive space on the shop floor to feel pampered.
The latest collection to launch at Dior is actually inspired by being backstage at their fashion shows. Peter Phillips, Dior’s creative director for make up, has designed the collection to be more inclusive for all Dior consumers, pro make up artists & not.
He said – “I wanted it to be practical. Yes, for make-up artists, but also for all women. Women who want to be beautiful and beautified, but without having to go to a masterclass. A professional approach but with an ease.” – in Vogue.
Although the products are top quality as usual, the entire collection is at the lower end of price scale for Dior. The packaging is designed to be sleek and to be used with ease, perfectly designed with busy lifestyles in mind.
The acrylic packaging allows us to see what products and shades we’re reaching for without needing to lift open the lid. Perfect for those last few minutes of getting ready in a rush.
So what does the collection involve?
Dior have launched their most extensive shade range of foundations ever. The backstage collection has 40 shades, ranging from very pale skin to darker skin.
The foundations concentrate on the skins undertone colours. There could be 3 shades that look very similar to one another in the bottle, but when tried on the skin adapt differently.
The shades in the foundations are very different from the DiorForever & DiorSkin foundations. A colour match test is highly recommended, and I guarantee there will be a shade to fit you perfectly.
This foundation has been created to be water and sweat proof. It’s very build-able, and creates a very natural looking finish. It creates such a natural finish that no other than Meghan Markle chose to wear this for her wedding day.
The Contour Palette
Contour Palette £34
I’m never usually one for contouring, I tend to just use bronzer, however this palette makes contouring easy. The shades blend out really easily and can be built up or toned down depending on skin colour.
A good way I’d use the palette, if you don’t want to contour is to swirl your brush across the four colours, it will add a great colour for your bronzer.
This palette is genius, and for one important reason puts it at joint top (with the foundation) of my Backstage Collection essentials list. The first square in the eye palette is an eye shadow primer. How brilliant is that?
Eye Palette £28
It is the most handy thing ever to have a primer in a palette, and makes it super handy for wanting to travel light but still have cracking looking make up.
The colours are very pretty in this palette, and blend lovely together. The lighter shades look great when applied with a wet brush, they add more of a shimmer.
A lip palette is a product I am yet to be convinced on. They’re great for getting ready and for on photo-shoots/catwalks, but I can’t see the use of them in my handbag.
However, these lipstick squares apply lovely. You do need a lip brush as the palette doesn’t come with one, but once the colour is on it has great durability just like Dior’s full size lipsticks.
Lip palette £38
All about the Brows
We all love a good brow product don’t we. I can’t get enough of having different brow products to change up my routine now and then. This brow palette I adore.
Brow Palette £28
It comes with a setting wax, and 2 brown powders to shape out the brow. This palette comes in two shade ranges also.
It’s a good small size, so very portable. The fact is comes with a wax to set it all in shape is really handy. So far this collection really has thought of everything that a busy person on the go will need. (You’ll just need your extra tools to apply and brush out your brows.)
Glow palette £34
I thought I would leave the glow palette till last, as I think this one could be the most popular. Everyone loves a glow. The highlight trend is going nowhere. Again, this is a palette that Dior have created to provide a number of services.
Not only is it great to add glow to a look, but it’s perfect for blush, adding a shimmer to your bronze, add a touch to under brow highlight, and use as an eye-shadow. The palette also creates a glow for different skin tones also, from pale to dark, and all in between.
I’ve used the word genius already in this post, but it really is.
On first glance and a small try out of each product I am already in love with this collection. I think it is current, very modern, and has put Dior consumers right in the heart of it.
I think it will also bring in a new younger audience to Dior. The aesthetic behind it is fresh, and very photo friendly. The model for the range being Bella Hadid showcases how they want the collection to be used – in a fun, youthful way that shows off our skins natural tones and beauty.
The great thing about this collection launching in Liverpool is that you get to try it out in the setting of where it was created, in a Backstage make up studio. Liverpool Debenhams offer complimentary services to try the products, and also offer full face makeovers.
The complimentary sessions are 10-20 minutes long and include – 3 step tips for backstage essentials. These include showing you the best way to apply foundation, glow, contour, lips, eyes and brows.
For 20 minutes you can also get complimentary looks with certain products. They can show you a full contour, or eye look. Plus, the latest Dior beauty trends.
For the full face make overs there is no set charge, it works by booking in and buying a minimum of 2 products. For the cost of 2 products you get a 30 minute make over. Buying 3 products or more will get you a 45 minute makeover which is a little more in depth about the products.
All experiences come with friendly expert staff, and *fingers crossed* a glass of Fizz.
If you do want to book in for a make over or consultation, then head to Debenhams Liverpool. Mention my name (Jessi Lou Blog), and when buying 2 or more products, one being from the Backstage Collection, you will get 10% off your spend, your make over and a free Dior gift.
The Backstage Collection is only exclusively being sold at 13 Dior counters across the UK. Liverpool is one of them.
As always, let me know if you book in. Tag me in your experiences if you use Instagram or Twitter. I have another Dior Backstage Collection blog coming up, of me personally using the products to create a full look & reviewing them from a none MUA point of view. Stay tuned for that one.
