Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s New Makeover

I have blogged about Liverpool John Lennon Airport before, and how my holiday always starts at the airport. If I can park my car up easily and my time in the terminal is fun and relaxing, then why not start your holiday right away.

Liverpool airport is my local airport. If I’m booking a holiday I always check to see if I can fly from there. There’s a great feeling to the place, as it’s smaller and never feels overly crowded.

Whether it’s the calming outlook of John watching over us there, or it’s down to the great planning of the team behind the scenes, either one has made it work really well.

Latest phase in the development of the airport

The current team at LJLA have been heading up the biggest expansion of recent years. During the last 18 months over £5million has been invested in to the improvement works of the departures terminal. £2million of that money has been invested in to the expanding and improving of the World Duty Free area.

The best part of the airport experience.

Lucy O’Shaughnessy, Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s Commercial Director commented,

“Having listened carefully to our passengers, we now believe we have passenger facilities here at Liverpool which are up there with the best of any UK regional airport. When combined with our recognised Faster, Easier Friendlier approach, Liverpool John Lennon Airport now gives a passenger experience second to none.”

Shop till you Board

Like I said before, with this being a smaller airport than the likes of Manchester airport, it’s closest rival, you may expect it to not be as up to scratch as larger airports. But Liverpool Airport have proved this view so wrong.

Not only is there a calmness to the airport for when passing through security and check in, they now have top range brands set up in the terminal waiting for you.

Brands such as Jo Malone and MAC are the latest to join the likes of already in place Chanel, Clarins and Elizabeth Arden in World Duty Free.

These brands all have the added bonus of 20% off too, thank you Tax Free Shopping.

This means you can pick up Jo Malone perfumes for as little as £36, and MAC lipsticks for £14.30.

I couldn’t resist the amazing deals that Elizabeth Arden have on their Eight Hour Cream. The great thing about airport shopping is that there are always special travel buys. Always keep your eyes peeled for offers like Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream travel set.

Hello, Traveller

Traveller is a wonderful new shop that has been added to the airport. When I saw it I actually said I would be travelling with empty hand luggage next time purely to shop here.

They stock brands like The North Face, Calvin Klein and Havaianas. Plus, lesser known brands like Katie Loxton, Vero Moda and South Beach.

The choice of clothes and accessories is bang up to season. If you’re heading out in the summer then you’ll have to pick up one of the summers must have straw bags.

They also stock lovely homeware and gift accessories, perfect if you’re heading to meet a loved one or friend on a special occasion.

This store is right by Accessorize, another great high street store to have a mooch in before boarding.

Heading for your gate

Now you’ve made your way through Duty Free, spent all your holiday money in Traveller and Jo Malone,  and picked up the best booze/snack deal ever, you’re going to be hit with more great stores.

On the way to your gate you’ll spot Starbucks, JD Sports and WH Smiths to name just a few.

I can’t go to the airport without grabbing my Starbucks Vanilla Latte. Some people grab a pint or fizz, but for me the coffee is the best travel drink.

I really don’t think you can go wrong with travelling from LJLA, especially now some of the biggest brands in clothing and beauty are on sale there.

Not only are the holiday destinations they fly to enticing you in, but the duty free shopping beforehand can now too. It is up there to rival that of other regional airports.

The expansion looks amazing, and it made me want to arrive even earlier before my flight in order to have a proper look (shop) around. Not only does it look good but it has also created 50 new jobs for new employees.

Was this what you were expecting of this airport, if you have never flown from there before or in a while? Pleasantly surprised? Let me know if it has now become a top contender to travel from.

Jessi xoxo
