Dressing in JOY
I’m going to start this blog post chatting about a couple of personal body hang-ups that I have. All will become clear why soon. We all get body hang-ups, no matter what shape and size we are.
My biggest hate is my knees, I don’t know why, I just think they’re odd looking. Plus, my knees don’t point straight even when I’m stood straight. You will all go and look now. But it’s true, and very weird.
My other thing I don’t like is the tops of my arms. I very rarely have all my arms and shoulders on show. Again, I don’t know why, but they are a huge bug bare of mine.
This is why I find summer dressing in the UK so hard. When I go on holiday I am all about getting my arms and knees out, but why can’t I do that here? Goodness knows.
I struggle every season with finding outfits that are comfortable to wear, as well as look good. I love dresses, and I often go for midi or maxi style ones, even though cute tea-dresses are my favourite.
When JOY reached out to gift me a dress to style up for summer it was now or never to take the plunge and order one in the style that I have wanted for ages.
Day Time Summer Style
I loved this cute floral print dress from the moment I saw it. The mustard colour is very in right now, and the sky blue on the flowers adds a touch of something different.
Although I am chatting about summer style, this dress would also work perfect for Autumn, with tights and boots.
I feel really relaxed and girly in this outfit. It fits lovely and makes me feel really comfortable but stylish. I love the floaty style to it, and it certainly brings out my girly side.
A big bonus for me, and I am sure many others, is that it covers the top of my arms, so I’m happy about having my legs out.
The main thing I love about the dress is, it has POCKETS. When an item I love has pockets it instantly sends them in to my most loved items in my wardrobe. Pockets are so handy, plus I just feel more relaxed knowing they’re there to slip my hands in to.
Styling This Louche Yuki Floral Dress
I know that this Louche dress from JOY is going to be perfect for many occasions. When shooting this post I came up with a few ideas on how else I would like to style it up too.
- For day time, dressed down – pair this dress with trainers, pumps or converse. I think white ones of all these would look best. Have little white socks poking out, and you’re good to go. For when it gets cooler add a blue denim jacket.
- For day to night – wear with a cute pair of block heels, or wedges. A clutch bag would work best with this look, and a touch of red lipstick too.
- For hot sunny days – wear with flat sandals, a cute straw hat, and straw bag. If you’re not feeling the hat, then a pair of cool sunglasses work just as well.
This dress will see my through lots of occasions. I can’t wait to wear it to a few garden parties this summer, as well as some relaxed days out in the city for shopping & cocktails.
For £45 I think it’s a really versatile, and classic dainty style dress. It’s one that will see you good for years. Florals never date, and can be worn in any season.
What do you think of this style of dress? Do you enjoy my fashion style posts? I’d love to know how you would style this up too.
Definitely check out the JOY site for all the cute items they have. I love JOY and really miss the store we used to have in Liverpool. If you pick something up, especially if it’s this dress, let me know in the comments, or tag me on Instagram.
