When Mother’s Day comes round each year, I love to take the chance to spoil my Mum. Not a day goes by that I don’t appreciate my Mum, or talk to her. But, days can pass by without me telling her how loved and fabulous she is.
Which is why I love celebrating Mother’s Day with her. Over the years we’ve been to Afternoon tea, lunches out, and on lovely walks. This year I don’t actually know what we’ll do. So any ideas, please message me.
Choosing her a gift is something I always think hard on though. My Mum’s birthday always falls around a similar time to Mother’s Day, so I try to vary the presents.
The tradition is always flowers, chocolates, or a family photograph. This year, I have technically combined all three. I’ve given my Mum (one) of her Mother’s Day gifts early ~ a Biscuiteers Bouquet Luxe Biscuit Tin.
The Biscuiteers are a London based company, for anyone who doesn’t know. They specialise in iced biscuits, of all kinds of designs. Their biscuits are handmade in their London bakery, and can be ordered from across the UK.
I love the way the biscuits can be shopped and designed for all occasions. Their smaller biscuit packages/individual biscuits can be ordered for someone as a little pick-me-up, or a “just because”.
Their birthday and other celebration designs are great for surprising someone with a unique gift. They combine cuteness and taste all in one.
Which is why I was super excited for my Mum to see the Bouquet Luxe box. This box is filled with carefully selected flower design biscuits.
It is all inspired by Floriography ~ The Language Of Flowers. Each biscuit represents a different quality that Mums may possess. They symbolise Happiness, Love, Patience, Positivity and Honesty.
This got me thinking about the qualities that I love and admire most about my Mum. I put it out there on Instagram too, and asked my followers for a word that describes their Mum. The amazing responses I had back described their fantastic Mothers as Strong, a Best Friend, Inspirational and Kind.
I think my Mum is a mixture of all of those too, as well as the attributes the biscuits represent. There are also a few other qualities that I’d particularly like to point out about my Mum. And to thank her for continually instilling them in me.
My Mum, Jane, I should of probably told you her name by now, has been described to me many a time as an Angel. I have to agree. She is a calm spirit, and isn’t easily angered or irritated. This is something I have learnt from her. She has taught me to not be quick to anger, don’t rush to judgement & to always remain calm in every situation.
Even under stressful times, I always make time to think before I act. This is something I have taken from our Jane.
Being a calm spirit is a great attribute to have. It gives you a clear mind, which for Mum’s, is great. Maybe that’s why they always give the best advice.
Mum has always been determined to make our lives great. She is determined to improve herself, as well as others. Her determination to help people, and make things better has always shone through.
She has instilled determination in to me and my sister. We’re always being told that we can achieve anything we put our minds to. So with that constantly in our ear, it’s very motivating. Plus, I always want to make her proud.
Kindness comes hand in hand with my Mum. I think this is a trait that she has carried through life. She is always doing things for others, thinking of others, and trying to make people happy.
Her kindness reaches lots of people that know her. I think when you mix her patience and calmness together, you get her kind nature.
The motto’s she has taught us are to always be kind, no matter what. And, otherwise, to kill them with kindness. Jane, the mastermind.
A Best Friend
I’m not ashamed to say that along with my gal pals, and my husband, my Mum is my best friend. Sometimes I don’t see her as a mother, rather as a friend.
I tell her everything. What’s going on in my life, where I am going, what I am thinking. Sometimes when I’m just walking through town I will call her up for a pointless chat. Much to her amusement I am sure.
But in all honesty, my Mum is the best company. She’s the life and soul of the party. A great listener. A great shopping partner. And a good laugh all round.
I count my blessings every day that I have the best Mum in the world. And I’m sure so many of you feel the same towards your Mums. Each of our wonderful Mother’s are all the best. They’re the best for us, and our families.
To have a brilliant Mum, or Motherly figure in life is a true blessing. Which is why it’s wonderful to take one day out of the year to celebrate and spoil them.
So, if you’re still looking for that unique gift then I would highly recommend the Biscuiteers. My Mum absolutely loves hers.
There are gluten free options to the biscuit selections too.
Have you ever tried the Biscuiteers before? What are you planning for your Mum this year? I’d love to hear what qualities you love in your Mum.
