Body Confidence & Me
First of all I am trying not to freak out over me putting bikini pictures on the internet. I don’t know why this is such a big deal to me. When I reached out to Bamboa Swimwear to see if they would like to collaborate I was clearly either not thinking straight, or feeling good in myself.
As I have got older, my own body confidence has become an issue for me. I am writing this as a size 8-10 woman, and I know these are small clothing sizes but I still have my hang ups.
Growing up as a dancer & sporty girl I was never worried about my body image. I had no time to, as I was changing in and out of sports shorts and leotards all the time. It was only as my body started to change (I was a late bloomer), that I became more self conscious.
It has taken me a number of years to get used to my new curves. I never used to have this body shape. For a smaller girl, I am a total pear shape. Small on top, with a booty on the bottom.
But gradually I am gaining back my body positivity. My thought process, which may or may not work for you is, life is too short to worry about what others think of you.
If you walk with confidence, smile, and truly have a good time wherever you go then you won’t be thinking of how you look. Only how you felt in that moment when you were relaxed & having a good time.
People won’t be judging your body, they’ll be thinking “wow, she/he looks fun”. And if they are judging you, then honey that’s their own problem.
What Body Confidence Means To Others
Knowing I was going to be writing about body confidence, I asked my followers on social media what this phrase meant to them. The answers I got back were so lovely, and very encouraging.
“Feeling happy/comfortable with my appearance in a way that I see as healthy and attractive.”
“Being happy to see my body, and also being proud of what it does.”
“It means that I am happy inside my body and I’m not ashamed of it.”
“Not feeling shy about flaunting my new mummy curves!”
No matter what age we are, us women and men feel conscious about our appearance. It is very easy nowadays to compare ourselves with others.
Social Media has a huge part to play in this. Our finger tips are less than 10 seconds away from very beautiful, chiselled people. Once we learn to accept and feel comfortable in ourselves though, these VS Models, and The Rock wannabes don’t matter.
Bamboa Swimwear
Although I am happy in my own skin, I still have a personal goal of how I want my body to look. I’m working out, but haven’t quite cut out the sugar just yet. So what better way to show the world my progress so far than to prance about on a beach in my swimwear.
I chose this bikini from Bamboa Swimwear because I loved the boho style of it. White always looks good against a tan too.
The stitching on it is lovely, and I love the rose gold hardware that shows off the brand name. The material used is really soft on the skin and is chlorine resistant.
The style of this bikini reminds me of laid back Californian surfer girls. The halter neck style is really flattering. It ties around the neck, and clasps together round your back. The top feels very secure, which along with being boho adds a little sporty vibe to it.
For the bikini bottoms I wore a size 10 and these fitted perfectly. They fitted slightly on the smaller side, so wearing my usual dress size of an 8 would have been too small.
Loving the Boho Beach Life
Looking back on these pictures makes me smile. I look happy in them and I absolutely love the bikini. I can’t wait to go away again to wear it.
You should certainly check out Bamboa’s site & social media for more styles of their luxury swimwear. Their designs are loved by people all over the UK, by celebrities and have been spotted in the Love Island Villa. They currently stock from size 8 to 16 in swimwear and sell fabulous beach accessories to match.
I’d love to hear what you think of the style of my bikini. And if body confidence is something that gets you thinking. What are your tips to share to people to help them feel good in their own skin?
Love, Jessi

GIRL! You look absolutely gorgeous in these pictures, so happy with so much confidence shining through that’s for sure! I swear it wasn’t until I hit my 30’s that I actually started to feel comfortable in my own skin. It’s been a long time coming but when that confidence finally hits, damn is it a bloody good feeling! This bikini is right up my street as well, perfect halter neck style and the embroidery is just beautiful!
